How to be an Efficient Online Learner
Everyone thinks online learning would be so much easier than actually going to school. It gives you the flexibility to learn on your own time.
However, you can easily be distracted by things around you that cause you to lose focus on your work. Here are a few tips to help you be more successful during your online learning.
1. Get yourself organized.
Designate a specific work area in your home for studying and completing your classes. You want to clear your space of distractions whether they are online or physical. Be sure to have all passwords saved and a strong internet connection.
2. Set up a schedule.
- Set a schedule for your study sessions and homework completion. Plan out daily goals to tackle so that you do not fall behind in the class. Hold yourself accountable for your learning. Markdown achievements, even celebrate them. Work towards big deadlines and due dates early on.
3. Figure out your learning style.
Actively take notes. Taking notes can help you retain more information. Complete practice questions regularly. The more you practice, the easier it becomes to determine what you need help with. Participate in discussions as peers can be a good resource as well.
4. Take breaks.
Remember to take breaks when they are needed. You need to rest and fuel your brain. Walks, exercising, talking with friends or family, and meditation are all good ways to relax the brain for a short time before going back to challenging problems and studying.
